Philosophy

Travel is tricky. You plan and anticipate for months and inevitably things go wrong. We want to help you navigate that a little better through the philosophy of travel that we’ve developed as we’ve visited cities, states, and countries near and far.

Here’s the overview:

Expectations

  • What are you expecting from this experience?
  • Is that realistic?
  • Have you communicated that to all appropriate parties?

Assumptions

  • “You don’t realize something is an assumption until you realize that it’s wrong.” – Brett
  • An expectation that hasn’t been fully identified? Assumptions are often based on experience, but may or may not account for new factors.

Priorities

  • Be proactive about setting and executing on your expectations.
  • “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” – Stephen Covey

Fomo v. JOMO

  • FOMO – fear of missing out. The problem with that? You can’t do it all ever.
  • Practice JOMO – the joy of missing out. There’s a certain peace and sense of presence that comes from letting some things go.

Growth Zone

  • There’s no growth in the comfort zone. If you want to make the most of your experience, push yourself just a little bit further than you would normally.
